Bisnis.com, CANBERRA - Federal Chamber of Automotive Industry (FCAI) telah melakukan proyek benchmarking yang membandingkan tingkat harga dan spesifikasi berbagai kendaraan bermotor baru di pasar Australia dengan model yang setara di Inggris, Jepang, dan Selandia Baru (NZ).
Seperti dikutip dalam situs FCAI yang dikutip Bisnis, Minggu (26/8/2018), Australia memiliki pasar mobil baru yang sangat kompetitif dengan 67 merek yang menjual lebih dari 350 model.
Tingkat persaingan yang tinggi tersebut menguntungkan konsumen, dengan sebagian besar model mobil yang dijual di Australia itu harganya lebih murah dibandingkan dengan model yang sama di pasar kendaraan setir kanan lainnya.
Pasar-pasar tersebut dipilih karena mobil yang dijual merupakan model drive kanan, seperti Australia. Adapun kendaraan yang dipilih untuk proyek riset ini mewakili penampang merek mainstream dan premium, dan tersedia di seluruh pasar.
Data pembandingan menunjukkan tingkat spesifikasi untuk setiap model bervariasi antar negara. Dengan demikian, harga yang diberikan itu mencerminkan tingkat spesifikasi.

Pada 2 Agustus 2014, FCAI merilis hasil analisis benchmarking yang dilakukan oleh IHS Automotive - sumber informasi, wawasan, dan analisis terdepan untuk industri otomotif global - dan diverifikasi dengan anggota FCAI. Analisis mencakup kendaraan Ford Focus Trend menetas, Mazda 3 Neo, Toyota Corolla Ascent Sport menetas, BMW 328i, dan sedan Mercedes-Benz C200.
